Two Swimmers Selected ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District

Senior Sarah Chrzanowski and Madeleine Pilchard honored
YPSILANTI, Mich. — Two members of Eastern Michigan University’s championship women’s swimming and diving team were named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV University Division Women’s At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced, Thursday morning. Senior Sarah Chrzanowski was named to the first team, while junior Madeleine Pilchard was a second-team selection. Each earned the same honor following the 2005-06 season.
Chrzanowski, the Mid-American Conference Diver of the Year, was a two-time MAC champion on the one-meter board, setting a new league record with a 306.20 score during the 2006 MAC championship meet. She is also a three-time Academic All-MAC honoree and two-time member of the First Team All-MAC squad. Last season she was named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America second team. Chrzanowski carries a perfect 4.00 GPA as an elementary education major.
Pilchard won five MAC championships en route to earning her second consecutive MAC Swimmer of the Year award and an All-MAC first team selection. Pilchard placed first in the 50, 200 and 500-yard freestyle events and swam anchor on the winning 400 and 800-yard relay races. She swam NCAA “B” cut times in all three individual events and set a MAC and meet record in the 200-yard freestyle. She was also named to the Academic All-MAC team. She carries a 3.91 GPA as an accounting major.
The EMU women’s swimming and diving team captured its second consecutive MAC Championship, Feb. 17, in Jones Natatorium. The Eagles finished with 655 points, ahead of second place Ohio 618 and third place Miami 596.
