EAGLES HEAD TO ANN ARBOR:
The Eastern Michigan University women’s outdoor track and field team will travel down the road to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan this Saturday, May 5, for the Paddock invitational. The meet will be an all day event.LAST WEEKEND’S TOP TEN: EMU posted five top 10 finishes at the Hillsdale Relays. Freshmen Brittany Lockhart (Canton, Mich.-Salem) and Jasmine Gates Virginia Beach, Va.-Tallwood) took second and fourth place in the heptathlon with scores of 4360 and 3799, respectively. Junior Kalli Williams (Dexter, Mich.-Dexter) placed sixth in the 5000-meters with a time of 17:12.43. Junior Porshia Pryor (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ann Arbor Huron) claimed tenth place in the 400-meters with a time of :58.13. The Eagles also notched an eight place finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of :48.34.
EMU also sent three competetors to the Penn Relays Thursday, April 26, on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. Sophomore Janice Keppler (Medina, N.Y.-Medina) placed seventh in the pole vault with a distance of 12-feet-5.5 inches. Sophomore Melissa Green (Brecksville, Ohio-Broadview Heights) set a new EMU Record with her time of 11:03.11 in the steeplechase, which was good for an eighth place finish.
THREE EAGLES NOMINATED ACADEMIC ALL MAC: Sophomores Matie Cortin (Laval, France/Ambroise Paré), Marika LeRoy (Carling, France/Lyceé JV Pomcelet) and junior Porshia Pryor (Ypsilanti, Mich.-Ann Arbor Huron) have all been nominated to the Academic All-MAC team for the 2007 outdoor track and field season. Cortin maintains a 3.40 GPA and her major is undeclared. LeRoy holds a 3.81 GPA and also has an undeclared major. Pryor has a 3.25 GPA and is majoring in exercise science.
