Earns Award for Second Time this Season
CLEVELAND, Ohio- Eastern Michigan University women's tennis player Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium) has been voted the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for the period ending April. 23, as announced by the conference office. This marks the second time this season she has won the award, the first coming in early March.
Frankowski, ranked No. 94 in the nation went 2-0 in singles play during the Eagles final two MAC matches of the year. While posting wins over Ashley Jakipcin (Bowling Green) and Carrie Jeanmaire (Western Michigan), Frankowski did not drop a set. She enters the MAC tournament riding a nine match winning streak in singles play and has accumulated a career-high 28 wins this season to lead the Eagles.
The Eagles have the sixth seed in this weekend's conference championship and will be in action Friday, April 27, against host Toledo in first-round action. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
