Tennis Drops Season Finale to WMU, 1-6

Eagles Defeated by Nationally Ranked Broncos

Kalamazoo, Mich. —The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 setback today in its final match of the regular season at the hands of Mid-American Conference champion and interstate rival No. 64 nationally ranked Western Michigan University.

The loss drops the Eagles to 12-10, 4-4 MAC for the season while the Broncos complete their third undefeated MAC season in a row, moving to 19-6, 8-0 MAC.

The lone bright spot for the Eagles today was nationally ranked Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium), as she scored the only EMU point on the day with a victory over Carrie Jeanmaire, 6-3, 6-4. Frankowski is currently ranked No. 100 in the latest Fila/ITA national rankings.

Senior Yana Parfenyuk (Ominsk, Russia-School #64) dropped her first MAC singles match of the season today, falling to Priyanka Parekh in three sets, 7-6, 6-7, 0-1.

The Eagles await their seeding for next weekend's MAC Championships to be held in Toledo, Ohio, April 27-29.
