Singles Matches the Difference in the 4-3 Win for EMU
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio —The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team bounced back from last week's defeat against Buffalo to edge Bowling Green State University, 4-3, here Friday afternoon at the Keefe Courts. Despite dropping two of three doubles matches, the Eagles were able to top four singles flights en route to a 4-3 Mid-American Conference victory.
"We picked up a much needed road win today. Aditi was very clutch in taking control of her third set to clinch the match for us," said head coach Ryan Ray. "This win will certainly help our seeding going into next weekends conference tournament."
Posting singles wins for the Eagles were No. 100 nationally ranked Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium), 6-3, 6-3, Yana Parfenyuk (Ominsk, Russia-School #64), 6-3, 7-5, Aditi Krishnan (Merkhem,Onterio-Canada-Markvile Secondary School), 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, and Tina Bestehorn (Ebenhausen, Germany-Icking Gymnasium), 6-4, 6-2.
The Eagles will be in action next tomorrow, April. 21, as they travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for its final Mid-American Conference match of the spring season against interstate rival Western Michigan. The match is slated for a 1 p.m. start time.
