Tennis Drops Second Straight in Florida

Eagles Downed by Golden Knights
ORLANDO, fla. —The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team suffered its second loss in as many days, losing to the Univeristy of Central Florida 5-2, today at the UCF Tennis Complex in Orlando, Florida.
The loss drops the Eagles to 6-5 on the season, and 1-2 on thier tour of the state of Florida.
The Eagles fell behind after dropping two of three doubles matches to the Golden Knights. The team of Laura Fernandez (La Vega, Dominican Republic-Colegio Inmaculada Concepcion) and Flavia Micati (Rio de Janerio, Brazil-Cejo Terejopolis RJ) captured the lone Eagle victory with a 9-7 defeat over Gordon/Carati.
Junior Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium), who sits at the No. 86 spot nationally, won for the eighth match in a row, besting Elvira Serrot 6-1, 6-2. EMU's second singles point came from Yana Parfenyuk (Ominsk, Russia-School #64), who defeated Anna Yakimchenkova 6-2, 6-2.
The Eagles will be in action next Friday, Mar. 9, as they travel to Terre Haute, Ind. for a match with non-conference opponent Indiana State. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start time.
