Wildcats Hand Eagles First Defeat in Past Month
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team suffered its first setback since Jan. 28 of this year, dropping a 5-2 match against Bethune-Cookman College.
The Wildcats took an early 1-0 advantage after taking two of three doubles matches from the Eagles. Posting the lone doubles match victory for the Eagles was the team of Laura Fernandez (La Vega, Dominican Republic-Colegio Inmaculada Concepcion) and Flavia Micati (Rio de Janerio, Brazil-Cejo Terejopolis RJ), with a 8-3 defeat of Monika Musilova and Jeneice Ward.
In singles action the Wildcats would dominate, taking four of six matches from the Eagles. EMU’s number one singles player, No. 86 ranked Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium) was able to keep her winning ways, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Olga Ruislova.
