Women's Track Struggles in Day Two of MAC Championships

Eagles get on the board but finish in last place
AKRON, Ohio — The Eastern Michigan University women’s indoor track and field team completed MAC Championship competition here Saturday, at the Athletics Field House on the campus of the University of Akron. Despite their best efforts, the Eagles tallied only seven points through seventeen scored events for a 12th place finish. The Zips from the University of Akron were crowned conference champions, posting 136 points.
Junior Andrea Wheeler (Suffolk, Va.-Lakeland), who yesterday qualified for today’s final round in the 60-meter hurdles, notched a fourth place finish with a time of 8.61. That placement marked the highest for the Eagles in the day’s competition.
Sophomore Janice Keppler (Medina, NY-Medina) posted a vault of 12-feet-1.5 inches for a seventh place finish in the pole vault.
The Eagles will compete in their final indoor meet of the season next Friday and Saturday, Mar. 2-3, when they travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Alex Wilson Invitational. Competition will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
