ENSENADA, Mexico. – Junior Catherine Fortin fired a 14-over-par 230 (76-74-80) to finish tied atop the leader board with the University of Toledo’s Tammy Clelland here at the Baja Invitational at the Baja Golf Resorts, Feb. 12-13. Fortin’s finish marked her second-career victory and sixth career top five showing.
ENSENADA, Mexico. – Junior Catherine Fortin fired a 14-over-par 230 (76-74-80) to finish tied atop the leader board with the University of Toledo’s Tammy Clelland here at the Baja Invitational at the Baja Golf Resorts, Feb. 12-13. Fortin’s finish marked her second-career victory and sixth career top five showing.
As a team, the Eagles finished second with a team score of 972 (326-316-330) as the Rockets ran away with the tournament title carding a 947 (315-321-311). Thanks to Clelland and teammates Boram Lee and Natalie Storck, who finished third and tied for fourth, respectively, Toledo won the team title by a margin of 25 strokes.
Individually for Eastern Michigan, sophomore Stephany Fleet followed with a 241 (82-80-79), while senior Kelly Boogaard added a 253 (83-82-88). Sophomore Courtney Aili and freshman Marjorie Thuot rounded out the lineup with a 256 (85-80-91) and a 257 (80-88-89), respectively.

Head coach Sandy Wagner's Eagles will return to action at the Fresno State Invitational Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 26-27, at the Cooper River Country Club in Fresno, Calif. The 54-hole event will be contested on the par-72, 5,966-yard course with 36 holes played on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
