Fortin Ties for Third at Rio Verde Invite

As a team the Eagles finish in eight place with a 915
RIO VERDE, Ariz. - Eastern Michigan University junior Catherine Fortin continued her strong play with a fourth consecutive top-10 showing, turning in a tie for third place at the Rio Verde Invitational here at the Quail Run Golf Course, March 9-11. Competing against some of the region's best golfers, the Beauceville, Canada native carded a 73 in the final round to finish with a 220.
As a team, the Eagles placed eighth with a team score of 915 (303-308-304) as Baylor University took home the invitational hardware with an 886 (289-300-297). The Bears made it a double victory as Allison Martin captured medalist honors with a four-under 212 (69-72-71).
Sophomore Stephany Fleet gave the Eagles another player among the top 25, after carding a 74 to finish tied for 21st with a 228 (76-78-74). Redshirt freshman Marjorie Thout and junior followed Paola Sanchez with a 239 while sophomore Courtney Aili turned in a 243 (76-82-85) for 83rd. Senior Kelly Boogaard rounded out the lineup with a 246 (77-82-87) for 90th place.
The Eagles are next in action March 25-26 at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill.
