YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team claimed second place of the EMU Invitational for the fifth consecutive season.  The Eagles accumulated 920.5 points to finish runner-up to the University of Michigan.
     
EMU started off the morning session with a third place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Alissa Riccard, Sheila Carson, Elisa Torres and Catherine Lee HaLeeza Moser then turned in a fifth-place showing in the 400 IM, with Torres finishing second and Summer Wood fourth in the 100 butterfly.  Madeleine Pilchard took second in the 200 freestyle with teammates Hannah Burandt and Ricard taking third and fifth, respectively.  In the 100 breaststroke, Carson finished fourth, as Ashley Durand took fifth.  Freshman Tracy Morgan placed third in the 100 backstroke; with the 800 freestyle relay team of Steph Cholyk, Burandt, Ricard and Pilchard ending the morning session with a second place finish.  EMU was in second place with 659.5 points heading into the final session.
 
In the evening session, the Eagles started strong by taking the 200 freestyle relay with the team of Cholyk, Lee Ha, Ricard and Pilchard.  Pilchard then finished fourth, with Burandt taking fifth in the 500 freestyle.  Lee Ha placed second in the 50 freestyle, with Becky Renkola taking fourth in the one-meter dive.  The 400 medley relay team of Morgan, Chelsea Allard, Moser and Burandt placed fourth to end the day for the Eagles.  EMU finished with 920.5 points on the day, good for second place and over 300 points better than the third-place finishing Mid-American Conference foe Toledo.
 
The Eagles will take some time off for winter training, before picking up competition again in 2008.  The next meet for the Green and White will be against Oakland, Jan. 11, 2008, at Jones Natatorium.  Meet time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
