, Mich. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team closed out the home portion of its 2007 regular season schedule with a 3-1 setback (21-30, 30-23, 28-30, 19-30) to in-state rival Central Michigan University Thursday night in Mid-American Conference action here at the Convocation Center. The contest was the final regular season home match for seniors Katie Bates, Corey Calcamuggio, Abby Reenders, Becky Reenders and Kate Sulewski.

With the victory the Chippewas improve to 21-8 and 10-5 in the MAC, while the Eagles fall to 18-12 and 8-7 in league play. The victory is CMU’s eighth in a row dating back to Oct. 16 at Oakland University.

The Green a White were paced by redshirt freshman Jennifer Swartz who tallied a career-best 13 kills and five block assists on the night. Abby Reenders notched a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs while Becky Reenders added 11 kills, eight digs and five block assists. Sulewski also turned in 38 set assists and 12 digs.

Central Michigan put four players in double figures in kills led by Sarah Warner with a match-best 17. Kate Fissell added 14, Whitney Evers had 13 and Lauren Krupsky finished with 12.

The EMU volleyball team will close out the regular season Saturday, Nov. 10, at the M.A.C. Center in Kent, Ohio versus the Golden Flashes of Kent State University. EMU then will return home to the Convocation Center Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the opening round of the 2007 MAC Volleyball Tournament. First serve for both matches is set for 7 p.m.
