YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team accumulated 309.5 points after the first day of competition of the EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium to put the Eagles in second place.
EMU won one event on the day, with Sheila Carson winning the 200 breaststroke.
Freshman Elisa Torres finished second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.63. Alissa Ricard placed third in the 200 backstroke, with Leeza Moser finishing fourth. Catherine Lee Ha took second in the 100 freestyle, with teammate Madeleine Pilchard taking third. Becky Renkola finished third in the three-meter dive. The 400 freestyle relay team of Ricard, Lee Ha, Steph Cholyk and Pilchard finished runner-up with a time of 3:27.28.
The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow with the completion of the EMU Invitational. The morning session begins at 10 a.m., with the final session starting at 6 p.m. at Jones Natatorium.
