Eagles Fall to Rockets, 181-119

EMU now 1-1 in MAC action
YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team fell to the University of Toledo, 181-119, today here at Jones Natatorium. The Eagles are 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in Mid-American Conference action.
Toledo won the 200 medley relay and 1,000 freestyle to start the meet, before the Green and White picked up a victory of their own when senior Madeleine Pilchard won the 200 freestyle. Teammates Hannah Burandt and Steph Cholyk took second and third as well in the 200 freestyle. Sheila Carson took first in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Freshman Elisa Torres was edged by 0.20 seconds to finish second to UT’s Shannon Hazleton in the 200 butterfly.
Becky Renkola finished first in the three-meter and third in the one-meter dives. Catherine Lee Ha turned in a pair of runner-up finishes in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races. The 800 freestyle relay team of Cholyk, Burandt, Ashley Durand and Pilchard took first to end the day, beating Toledo by less than a second.
The Eagles will be back in MAC action when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bulls Friday, Nov. 9. Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
