EMU starts 1-0 in conference action
YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team bested Bowling Green State University, 154-134, today here at Jones Natatorium. The Eagles are 3-0 on the young season and 1-0 in Mid-American Conference competition.
EMU started strong, taking eight of the first nine events. The 400 medley relay team of Madeleine Pilchard, Ashley Durand, Sheila Carson and Catherine Lee Ha captured the first event of the evening with a time of 3:56.54. The Green and White then took three of the top five spots in the 1,000 freestyle, led by freshman Erin Rhoades’ time of 10:38.22. Rhoades also came away with a victory in the 500 freestyle.
Pilchard narrowly beat out teammate Hannah Burandt to take the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:53.44. Carson captured the 100 breaststroke, while freshman Elisa Torres came away with a victory in the 200 butterfly. Lee Ha took first in the 50 freestyle with Pilchard coming away with another victory in the 100 freestyle. Becky Renkola won the three-meter dive with a score of 275.85. Chantelle Lonsdale was also an individual winner for the Eagles, taking the 200 breaststroke,
The Eagles will be back in MAC action tomorrow, Nov. 3, when the University of Toledo invades Jones Natatorium for an afternoon meet. Scheduled start time is 1p.m.Kemp Savage Rowing Preview vs. Michigan State, 2026
