PALISADES, Calif. – Vanessa Frankowski of the Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team and ranked 70th in the nation, lost in the qualifying consolation quarterfinal at the ITA All-American Qualifying Draw. Frankowski had a tough opponent in #107 Alex Haney of Auburn.
“Vanessa had 4-2 leads in both the first and second set, however but wasn’t able to capitalize in either,” said head coach Ryan Ray. “Her opponent did a good job at making some shots to get herself back in the match. Altogether Vanessa had some great competition and hopefully she can improve as the year goes on.”
Frankowski lead in both sets, 4-2, but Haney bounced back to take both sets, 6-4, 7-5.
Frankowski and crew will travel to the campus of Virginia Tech. this weekend to compete in the Hokie Fall Invitational. First round starts later today.
