NIU snaps EMU's six-game unbeaten streak
DeKALB, Ill. — The Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Northern Illinois University Huskies. The loss snapped the Eagles’ six game unbeaten streak.
With the loss, the Eagles drop to 7-6-4 (5-3-2 MAC), while the Huskies improve to 8-5-4 (5-3-2 MAC).
The game was a defensive struggle, as neither team would score in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper Maggie Manville recorded three saves in the first half to help keep the Huskies off the board.
In the second half, the game looked like it was heading for overtime before NIU’s Karen Enrockson found the back of the net off a pass from Lisa Maier with just 1:07 left in the game.
The Eagles struggled offensively, mustering only two shots on goal. Manville recorded seven saves on the day to help keep the Eagles in the game.
