Frankowski Finds Success at ITA Midwest Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Vanessa Frankowski of the Eastern Michigan University women’s tennis team compete at the 2007 Wilson/ITA Midwest Regional this weekend. She went 2-1 in singles play throughout the weekend.

In her first round of action, the senior defeated Kylie Moore of Marquette, who retired due to injury. She moved on and defeated Gergana Ganeva of DePaul, 6-1, 7-6 (6).

"Vanessa played very efficient tennis Saturday,” said head coach Ryan Ray. “Since she was on the court less than her future opponent, hopefully that will be an advantage, as she will have a difficult match ahead of her."

In her final match, she lost to no. 108 Jacqueline Lee of Iowa, 7-6 (3), 6-2.

“The first set tiebreak was pivotal in the match,” said Ray. “Jacqueline got out to a fast start, and that can be difficult to overcome in a tiebreak. I think Vanessa's efforts in the tournament were very good. We will now focus on preparing for the spring season that starts in January."
