Box Score

YPSILANTI
, Mich. — For the second time this season, the Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team has won back-to-back games, defeating Kent State 1-0, here today at Scicluna Field. Today was also senior day, with the Eagles honoring seven seniors on this year’s squad.
With the win, EMU moves to 6-5-4 (4-2-2 MAC) on the season, while Kent State drops to 6-8-1 (4-3 MAC).
Prior to the game, Eagle seniors Amanda Sargent, Jill Kehler, Lindsay Hill, Sophia Naum, Emi Cummings, Sara Schiffbauer and Samantha Beard  were honored by head coach Scott Hall and the rest of the Green and White coaching staff.
The first half was a showing of defensive strategy as neither team was able to get its offense into gear. KSU held a slight three to one edge in shots taken in the first half, as the teams ended the first 45 minutes of the game at a 0-0 standstill.
The second half started with EMU controlling the Golden Flash half of the field, but to no avail as the Kent State defense was able to counter each Eagle attack.
In the 81st minute, freshman Stephanie Janssens recorded her second goal of the season and what would turn out to be the game winning goal, putting EMU above the .500 mark for the first time since early September.
The Eagles will take their current two-match winning streak on the road this coming week as they travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a date with MAC West rival Western Michigan, Friday, Oct. 26, followed by a stop in DeKalb, Ill. for a Sunday match against Northern Illinois Oct. 28.
