EMU Swimmers Notch Another Win

Both men's and women's swimming and diving teams knock off Wisconsin-Milwaukee
YPSILANTI, Mich. — The Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams defeated Wisconsin-Milwaukee in their second dual meet of the weekend. The men are now 2-1, with the women sporting a 2-0 mark.
The men came away with a 151-92 victory, winning their second consecutive meet. Derick Roe captured both the 50 and 100 freestyle races, in addition to being part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team. Dan Kish placed first in the 200 freestyle race, while Don Ellison won the 200 IM. Mark Kurtzer was victorious in the 200 backstroke. Scott Murphy won the 200 breaststroke, with Matt Guinan winning the three-meter dive.
For the women, EMU posted a 147-88 win. Erin Rhoades captured the 500 and 1000 freestyle races, while Catherine Lee Ha won the 50 and 100 freestyle races. Sheila Carson won the 200 IM and 200 breaststroke, Leeza Moser took the 200 backstroke and Elisa Torres placed first in the 200 butterfly.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee coach Dave Griffore returned to Ypsilanti for the first time as a head coach. Griffore spent six years on the Eagles’ staff, as a graduate assistant, associate coach and assistant coach.
The women will begin MAC play, Friday, Nov. 2 when they host Bowling Green at Jones Natatorium. The meet is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The men are in action again when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bulls, Friday, Nov. 9
