Senior Rebecca Fuss Collects Multiple Third Place Finishes

KALAMAZOO, Mich.--
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team suffered its first Mid-American Conference setback of the season Sunday afternoon here at University Arena, falling to Western Michigan, 194.650-191.700.

With the loss the Eagles drop to 2-1, (1-1 MAC), while the Broncos move to 1-2, (1-2 MAC).

The Broncos, who were picked to finish third in the Mid-American Conference pre-season rankings, claimed the top two places in every rotation on the way to its first victory of the season, and first MAC win of the season.

For EMU, senior Rebecca Fuss (Orlando, Fla-Dr. Phillips) paced the way with three third place finishes in the uneven bars (9.675), balance beam (9.750), and all-around (38.725) competitions.

Junior Nicole O’Hara (Florence,Ky-Boone County) collected two third place finishes on the day, tying Fuss in the beam, and fellow junior Jolene Worley (Orlando, Fla-William R. Boone) on the floor with a 9.775 score.

Overall, the team scored 48.500 on vault, 47.000 on bars, 47.700 on beam and 48.500 on the floor. The overall score of 191.700 was more then a point shy of their season high mark of 192.475.

The Eagles will look to get back to winning ways Feb. 3, as they travel to East Lansing, Mich. to compete in the Michigan Classic hosted by Michigan State University. The meet is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start time.
