MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.– The Eastern Michigan University women’s indoor track team traveled to the Campus of Central Michigan University, Friday and Saturday, to compete in the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships. The Eagles tallied 39 points over the course of the meet, good enough for a fourth place finish out of six teams.
The Eagles participated in 13 of the 17 total events (including the pentathalon) and had one first place finisher and four other top three finishers.
Sophomore Janice Keppler (Medina, NY-Medina) turned in the lone victory for the Eagles in the pole vault event with a height of 11-feet-11.75 inches. The win marks the second for Keppler in as many weeks.
Other top three finishers for the Eagles included freshman Jasmine Gates (Virginia Beach, Va.-Tallwood) in the high jump (3rd, 5-feet-4.25 inches) and juniors Andrea Wheeler (Suffolk, Va.-Lakeland) in the 60-meter hurdles (3rd, 8.95), and Kalli Williams (Dexter, Mich.-Dexter) in the mile run (3rd, 5:12.93). The Eagles also placed third in the distance medley with a time of 12:32.99.
The men’s indoor track and field team will travel to South Bend, Ind., Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3, for the Meyo Invitational on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Events will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
