YPSILANTI, Mich. - Freshman Deana Kinter (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Grand Blanc) scored her first career goal to lead the EMU women’s soccer team to its first victory of the season in a 1-0 shutout over Detroit here at Scicluna Field in Ypsilanti, Mich. For the game, the Eagles (1-1-1) outshot Detroit (0-3-0) 15-10.
Kinter connected on the game winning goal at the 76:09 mark with a shot from the right side that deflected off a Detroit defender and past goal keeper Katie Fortenberry. Freshman Katie Lozar (Broadview Heights, Ohio-Brecksville) also picked up her first career assist on the goal. Monique Budani (Whitby (Toronto), Ontario-Sinclair Secondary) continued her impressive campaign notching her second shut out in just three games making four saves on 10 shots faced.
