Fleet Takes Second at Lady Irish Invite

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Sophomore Stephany Fleet fired a five-over-par 221 (73-76-72) to finish in second place here at the Lady Irish Invitational here at the Warrern Golf Course in South Bend, Ind., Sept. 23-27. Fleet’s finish marked her fourth-career top 10 finish and fifth consecutive top 15 showing dating back to the EKU Spring Invitational, April 6-8, 2006.

As a team, the Eagles third with a team score of 928 (307-314-307) as the University of Cincinnati ran away with the tournament title carding a 919 (310-306-303). Cincinnati's Hillery Wilson took home medalist honors with a two-over 218 (77-69-72).

Junior Catherine Fortin followed with a 233 (76-83-74), while senior Katie Strawser added a 237 (76-78-83). Freshman Marjorie Thuot and junior Paola Sanchez rounded out the lineup with a 241 (83-80-78) and a 246 (82-80-84), respectively.

Head coach Sandy Wagner's Eagles will return to action at the Wolverine Invitational Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Mich. The 54-hole event will be contested on the par-72, 5,966-yard course with 36 holes played on Saturday and 18 on Sunday.
