Complete Results.

YORKTOWN, Ind. – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team carded a 311 in the final round of the Cardinal Classic to capture an eight-stoke victory in the 18-team field here Sunday at The Players Club Golf Course. The Eagles posted a score of 607 for the tournament (296-311). Ferris State University finished second with a 615 (304-311) and Grand Valley State University was third with a team total of 617 (311-306).

The tournament victory marks only the sixth invitational title that EMU has captured in the program's 10-year history. EMU's last championship came at the 2006 Rocket Spring Classic, April 17-18, when the Eagles defeated Toledo by 21-strokes to lay claim to the top spot.

EMU finished with three players in the tournament’s top 10, including sophomore Stephany Fleet who tied for fourth place after firing a 151 (74-77). Fleet's finish marked her third-career top 10 finish and fourth consecutive top 15 showing dating back to the EKU Spring Invitational, April 6-8, 2006.

Freshman Marjorie Thuot turned in a 152 (76-76) for a seventh-place finish, while senior Katie Strawser added an eighth-place tie with a 36-hole total of 75-78 (153). Junior Catherine Fortin tied for 17th with a 156 (76-80) and senior Kelly Boogaard rounded out the lineup with a 158 (71-87).

The Eagles will return to action at the Notre Dame Invitational Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 23-23, at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.
