Women’s Soccer Battles IUPUI to a Scoreless Draw

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In her first collegiate game, freshman goalie Monique Budani (Whitby (Toronto), Ontario-Sinclair Secondary) led the Eastern Michigan University women’s soccer team to a scoreless two overtime tie against IUPUI in the 2006 season opener here at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The Eagles move to 0-0-1 while the Jaguars improve to 1-0-1 on the season.

Bundani notched her first career shutout making seven saves on 21 shots faced.

For the game, EMU out shot IUPUI, 23-21, with a 10-7 shots-on-goal advantage. Six of the Eagles shots on goal came in the both overtime periods with the best scoring chance coming in the 103rd minute as freshman Maggie Christensen (Orland Parks, Ill.-AA Stagg) ringed a shot off the post.

The Eagles play their home opener at Scicluna Filed against in-state foe Detroit Friday, Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
