Men sit in fourth place after first three events

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships got underway today at the University of Toledo Track and Field Complex with first day events in the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon competitions, along with four women's and three men's events.
On the men's side, Eastern Michigan University sits in fourth place after three events with 17 team points. EMU was led by sophomore Henok Lechebo earning eight points with his third place finish in the 10,000m with a time of 30:51.58. Freshman Josh Perrin turned in a fourth place showing in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 31:04.95. Senior Dave Adamek rouned out the EMU scoring with a third place finish in the hammer throw with a heave of 187-9.
The EMU women's team totaled only five points among the four events contested on the opening day of competition. Sophomore Kallie Williams finished fourth with a time of 36:16.27 to pick up a total of five points. EMU is in 10th place after day one.
Action at the MAC Outdoor Championships resumes tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. with second-day events in both the decathlon and heptathlon. Day two action will also feature semifinal heats for the sprint and middle distance events along with a few field event competitions.
