YPSILANTI, Mich. - The Eastern Michigan University baseball team recorded a season-high 23 hits Wednesday night at Oestrike Stadium in a 17-4 rout of Northwood. The 17 Eagle runs were also a season-best as the EMU improves to 16-2 at home this season.

Seven EMU (22-17) pitchers combined to give up just four runs on nine hits. Junior George Biddle picked up his fourth victory of the season by tossing the first three innings without allowing a run.

Leading the way offensively was senior Matt Moffett who went a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with four runs scored, including a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning, en route to a season-high six RBI. Sophomore Steve Bradshaw also chipped in five hits in six trips to the plate along with two RBI and three runs scored.

Eastern jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as Brian Blackburn singled to score Derek Lehrman with another single by Josh Ivan which drove in Moffett.

EMU kept up the pressure in the third driving in four runs on six hits to take a 6-0 lead and broke the game open in the fourth inning with four runs on four singles increasing its lead to 10-0.

Moffett’s grand slam capped off a five-run fifth inning as EMU cruised to a 17-4 victory.
