Off and on rain slowed play and prevented the completion of the second round

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team finished the first round in second place before rain caused the postponement of the second round Saturday at the 2006 Rutherford Intercollegiate at the par 72, 6,859-yard Penn State Blue Course. Senior Korey Mahoney leads the tournament field after carding a four-under 68 in the opening round for the three stoke advantage.
Miami (Ohio) holds the top spot on the team leader board with a nine-over 297 while EMU (300) and Bowling Green (311) rounded out the top-three.
The Eagles also had a quality performance from freshman Chris Ross who is tied for ninth with a 76. Other EMU scorers included Graham Hill with a 77, Peter Sauerbrei with a 79 and Bryan Haase with an 80.
The Eagles and the rest of the field will complete round two in the morning before teeing off for the final round tomorrow afternoon.
