Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Rio Verde Invitational

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – The EMU women’s golf team finished seventh with a three-round total of 929 (312-310-307) in the final day of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, March 2-4, here at the White Wing Golf Course.
Sophomore Catherine Fortin and freshman Stephany Fleet led the way for the Eagles with a tie for 18th place, carding a two-round total of 230. Junior Katie Strawser finished just two strokes back with a 232 (75-79-78) for a 27th place tie. Sophomore Paola Sanchez turned in a 239 (83-78-78 for a tie for 55th. Freshman Courtney Aili and junior Kelly Boogaard rounded out the lineup, shooting an 244 and 246, respectively.
Northwestern finished as the team champion, winning by a margin of 18-strokes over runner-up Michigan, firing a 889 (302-295-292). The Wolverines' Amy Schmucker claimed individual medalist honors with a three-day total of 215( 75-69-71).
