Eagles Fall on Final Day at MAC Championships
ATHENS, Ohio -- For the first time in eight years, the Eastern Michigan University men’s swimming and diving team did not capture the Mid-American Conference Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship. Heading into the final day of competition, EMU trailed Miami by 11.5 points. The Eagles lost points on day two in the 200-yard medley relay team was disqualified for starting early, resulting in zero team points, while Miami claimed first place and 20 team points. The teams went back-and-forth over the course of the finale, but the RedHawks would prevail.
The Eagles were rewarded with six members of the All-MAC First Team and five members of the All-MAC Second Team. Loren "Buck" Smith was named MAC Diving Coach of the Year.
