CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished in sixth place with a 36-hole total of 645 at the 13-team Southern Illinois University Saluki Invitational. Bradley University captured the 12th annual invitaional title, posting a 614 at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course.
Junior Kelly Boogaard lead the Eagles with a tie for 17th place with after shooting a 158 (81-77). Sophomore Catherine Fortin finished tied for 17th with a two-day total of 160 (82-78), while junior Katie Strawser finished 25th with a 162 (80-82). Freshman Stephany Fleet carded a 166 (80-86), freshman Courtney Aili shot a 169 (81-88) and sophomore Paola Sanchez rounded out the lineup with a 173 (86-87).
The Braves placed three golfers in the top ten, including the tournament leader Megahan LeBlanc, who shot a three-over-par 147 (72-75). Eastern Kentucky finished as the runner-up with a 624, just four strokes ahead of the third place Southern Illinois. Illinois State (629) and Murray State (640) round out the top five.
The Eagles return to action April 6-8 at the Eastern Kentucky University Spring Invitational.
