Patrice Beasley wins 100M, two relay teams capture titles at Raleigh Relays
RALEIGH, N.C.-—The Eastern Michigan University women’s track team made its first outing of the 2006 outdoor season a big one with several strong performances here Friday and Saturday (March 24-25) at the Raleigh Relays on the Paul Derr Track. There were no team scores kept in the meet.
Senior Patrice Beasley (Romulus, Mich.-Romulus), a two-time indoor sprint champion in the Mid-American Conference indoor championships last month, turned in a sizzling start to the outdoor season, capturing the 100-meter dash in an :11.87 clocking.
The Eagles also turned in two winning relay efforts and a runner-up relay finish in the meet. The 4 x 200-meter relay team won that race in a 1:37.03 clocking while the 4 x 400-meter relay unit captured first in a 3:41.40 time. The 4 x 100-meter relay was second in :45.64.
Chrystal Dooley (Westerville, Ohio-South) turned in a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.18 while Ashley McCullough (Dayton, Ohio-Colonel White) was third in the long jump at 19-feet-7 inches and Lauren Snell was third in the unseeded 1500 meters in 4:40.33.
