MT. PLEASANT, Mich. - The Eastern Michigan University women’s gymnastics team finished in fifth place at the State of Michigan Classic Friday night in Rose Arena. The meet was hosted by Central Michigan for the first time since 2001.
The Eagles final team score was 191.800. The University of Michigan finished first with a top score of 196.375 while Michigan State took the second spot (193.525), Central Michigan was third (192.425) and Western Michigan was fourth (192.300).
Sophomore Jolene Worley tied for fourth place on beam with a score of 9.750.
Junior Rebecca Fuss was the top finisher out of the Eagle squad in the all-around competition with a sixth place finish with a score of 38.575.
EMU is back in action next weekend with a conference dual meet at Central Michigan Saturday, Feb. 11. The meet begins at 4 p.m. in Warner Gymnasium.
