Senior Lindsay Piccolini records 15 kills and four blocks in the setback
MUNCIE, Ind. – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team saw its seven-match winning streak snapped Friday night with a 3-0 sweep by Ball State University, 27-30, 28-30, 28-30, here at Worthen Arena. The loss dropped the Eagles’ record to 12-15 overall and 6-9 in the Mid-American Conference while the Cardinals improved to 10-17 overall and 7-8 in the MAC.
The Eagles were led senior Lindsay Piccolini and junior Becky Reenders, who both reached double digit kills. Piccolini tallied a time-high 15 kills and four block assist, while Reenders added 11 kills and a block assists. Senior libero Ashley Cudney had a team-best 19 digs and junior setter Kate Sulewski finished with 38 assists, fours digs and a kills.
Ball State had a trio of players with double figure kills, led by Julie Breivogel and Kelly Cochran with 15 kill a piece. Amanda McCormick added 39 15 digs as Angie Parrell tallied 42 assists.
As a team, Ball State out-hit the Eagles .190 (57-28-153) to .122 (42-24-147). Ball State also held a 71-59 lead in digs and an 11-6 advantage in total blocks. Both teams recorded three aces.
