EMU Upends Ball State in Overtime

MUNCIE, Ind. – Katie Lozar (Broadview Heights, Ohio-Brecksville) notched her first career goal helping the Eastern Michigan women’s soccer team snap its three match losing streak with a, 2-1, overtime victory over Ball State here at the BSU soccer field. With the win, the Eagles move to 5-6-2 (2-4 MAC) while Ball State falls to 9-3-2 (4-2 MAC).
Late in the first half, Ball State took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Bailey Decker at the 44:23 mark.
In the second half, EMU got the equalizer on a set piece as Lozar connected on a shot off a free kick by Jill Kehler (Grand Blanc, Mich.,-Grand Blanc) to tie the score at 1-1.
Maggie Christensen (Orland Parks, Ill.-AA Stagg) scored her third goal of the season in game winning fashion at the 95:29 mark of overtime on a break away feed from Katie Zundel (Utica, Mich.-Henry Ford II) to give the Eagles a 2-1 victory.
EMU returns home for a 4 p.m. conference match versus intra-state rival Western Michigan at Scicluna field on Friday, October 13.
