BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The EMU women’s soccer team lost in heartbreaking fashion as Bowling Green scored a goal in the final 47 seconds for a 1-0 victory here at Cochrane Field. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 6-9-2 (3-7 MAC) while the Falcons improve to 9-9-0 (6-4 MAC) season.

EMU held a 12-10 shot advantage with 7 shots-on-goal, but could not get the ball past BGSU goalkeeper Christy Zabek.

After a scoreless 89 minutes of the game, Bowling Green’s Colleen Kordan sent in a shot off a free kick from 40 yards out that was headed into the back of the net by Samantha Bland to give the Falcons the 1-0 victory with only 47 seconds left.

The goal came after EMU didn’t capitalize on its best scoring chance which came with just under 29 minutes left in the second half. Jill Kehler’s (Grand Blanc-Mich., Grand Blanc) free kick found a teammate's head which was directed to Lauren Clyne (Macomb, Mich.-Henry Ford II) who was running all alone behind the pack in the penalty box. Clyne tried to redirect the ball past a charging Zabek, but rolled it just wide left.

The Eagles close out the regular season with a road match against intra-state rival Central Michigan Thursday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m.
