Eagles split duals with Cleveland State and Slippery Rock
CLEVELAND, Ohio –– The Eastern Michigan University wrestling team split a pair of dual meets here Saturday, defeating Slippery Rock, 19-15, and dropping a 29-12 decision to host Cleveland State.
Freshman 125 pounder Sean Clair (Turtlecreek, Pa.-Plum) and junior 197 pounder Tony Lyssiotis (Oxford, Mich.-Oxford) led the Eagles with two wins in the duals. Clair, ranked 17th in the latest NCAA Division I polls, defeated Slippery Rock's Chris Clark, 5-0, and came back with a 5-4 win over Cleveland State's Jaryl Hunt.
Lyssiotis turned in a 6-0 win over Slippery Rock's Andrew Joseph and followed that with an 8-3 win over Cleveland State's Ishmal Williams.
The split leaves EMU with a 2-5 dual-meet record on the season. A complete rundown of the two Saturday duals is listed below.
