Football To Host Ball State on Senior Day

15 Seniors Play Final Time at Rynearson Stadium

The Eastern Michigan University football team closes out the home portion of the 2005 schedule with a MAC West Division battle against the Cardinals of Ball State Saturday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. The contest is also Senior Day for EMU’s 15 seniors.
SENIOR DAY: Saturday’s (Nov. 5) Mid-American Conference West Division matchup with Ball State will be Senior Day for the Eastern Michigan University football team. The Eagles have a large contingent of 15 seniors making their final home appearances in Rynearson Stadium. A complete list of the seniors is on page six of this release.
LOOKING FOR THREE IN A ROW: Ball State leads the series with EMU, 24-20-2, but the Eagles have won the last two straight. In 2004, Eastern traveled to Muncie, Ind. an d captured a 31-24 victory (Oct. 9). EMU also won the 2003 contest here in Rynearson by a 38-14 count (Nov. 15).
DESLAURIERS CLOSING IN: EMU junior wide receiver Eric Deslauriers (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada) is closing in on the EMU career record for touchdown passes. His 19 career touchdown passes is one short of Kevin Walter’s (1999-02) 20. Walter is currently playing for the NFL’s Cincinnati Bengals.
FORD FIELD A NATURAL:
Ford Field has become a site for outstanding Eastern Michigan University performances. Eastern has hosted the Collegiate Clash the last two seasons and both Mid-American Conference contests have been thrillers to the very end. Eastern defeated Central Michigan by a 61-58 count in four overtimes in the inaugural game, Nov. 6, 2004. This year’s game, played last Saturday (Nov. 5), went all the way to the end with Western spoiling Eastern’s chance at a 2-0 record in the Collegiate Clash with a 44-36 victory.SENIOR DAY: EMU will honor its 15 seniors as part of Senior Day Saturday, Nov. 12, in a 6 p.m. Mid-American Conference West Division game against Ball State. SECOND TIME FOR DOUBLE 100’S: EMU wide receivers Eric Deslauriers (Gatineau, Ontario, Canada-Lennoxville Prep) and A.J. Bennett (Delray Berach, Fla.-Atlantic Community) both turned in double-figure receiving games against Western Michigan, Nov. 5. Deslauriers caught 14 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown and Bennett snagged 13 receptions for 122 yards. The only other time that two EMU receivers have had double figures in catches and 100+ yards in receiving was Nov. 11, 2000 against Northern Illinois when Kevin Walter had 14 catches for 199 yards and one score and Kenny Chrtistan added 10 receptions for 116 yards.
