Kassie Kadera is entering her third full season as an assistant coach for Eastern Michigan University’s volleyball team in 2021. The former standout student-athlete and NCAA Division II head coach joined the Eagles in April 2018.

Kadera, who was an All-Mid-American Conference student-athlete at the University of Toledo, has accumulated  eight years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and club level in the Midwest. She works primarily with the setters while at Eastern, as well as assists with recruiting and scouting.

During the 2021 shortened spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Green and White recorded an 8-12 mark in Mid-American Conference play. The Eagles ranked fifth in the league averaging 11.5 assists per set.

Kadera mentored EMU’s primary setter Jayden Otto to a 10.3 assists-per-set average. Additionally, Otto set an EMU four-set record in the modern statistical era (since 2008) with a career-high 58 assists at Northern Illinois,

In 2019, Kadera helped guide the Eagles to an 11-16 record with a 6-10 Mid-American Conference mark. Eastern Michigan ranked third in the conference with 12.51 assists per set, while EMU’s primary setter Riley Taylor averaged 9.13 assists a set.

Prior to joining Dorton's staff, Kadera served as the head coach at Walsh University, an NCAA Division II institution in Canton, Ohio. After beginning her tenure with the Cavaliers as an assistant in 2014, Kadera was promoted to the head coach in 2015 and promptly led the team to its second conference tournament appearance and first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) East Division title.

Kadera's collegiate coaching career began as a volunteer at the University of Akron where she helped coach setters, broke down film, and kept track of necessary statistics for the Zips' coaching staff. She has also spent seven years coaching with various club programs throughout Ohio.

The Toledo graduate had a highly-decorated career for the Rockets, led the MAC in assists-per-set in 2009 and ranked third in the league in her other four seasons, while also earning All-MAC Second Team honors three times.
