Sam Cassatta joined Eastern Michigan University Athletics in October 2025 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Before returning to EMU, Cassatta worked in professional baseball with the Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers organizations. In 2025, he served as an Associate Athletic Trainer for the Brewers’ Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, where he developed arm-care routines, managed recovery programs for pitchers and position players, and collaborated on return-to-play plans for muscle and soft-tissue injuries.
During the 2024 season, he worked with the Detroit Tigers’ High-A affiliate, the West Michigan Whitecaps, supporting rehabilitation programs and implementing treatment plans using modalities such as Shockwave, Blood Flow Restriction, and Laser therapy. He also gained experience with the Detroit Tigers’ Major League staff and with EMU’s football and baseball programs during his graduate studies.
Cassatta earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Athletic Training from Eastern Michigan University in 2024. A native of Plymouth, Mich., he graduated from Canton High School in 2018.
He holds First Aid and CPR certification from the American Heart Association and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
