MacKenzie Meyer is in her first year as an Associate Athletic Trainer at Eastern Michigan University, joining the department in July 2025. She brings nearly a decade of experience in collegiate athletic training, with a focus on comprehensive athlete care, injury prevention, and performance optimization.
A native of East Lansing, Mich., Meyer graduated from The Pennington School in Pennington, N.J., in 2013. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Michigan State University in 2017. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Athletic Training with a specialization in sports medicine at Indiana University in 2019.
Meyer began her athletic training career as a student intern at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in the summer of 2016. From 2017 to 2019, she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Indiana University, working with the women’s tennis and cheerleading teams. During her time with IU cheerleading, the team captured the UCA national championship in 2019.
Following graduate school, Meyer served as an assistant athletic trainer at the University of the Cumberlands from 2019-21, providing care for men’s lacrosse, swimming & diving, and bowling. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, she also worked as an adjunct professor, teaching courses in anatomy and physiology and first aid. She continued her career at Ball State University from 2021-22, working with the softball and field hockey programs, before spending three years (2022-25) at the University of Detroit Mercy as the assistant athletic trainer for men’s soccer.
Meyer is certified in Master Dry Needling, Graston Technique (M1), and Blood Flow Restriction Therapy. She has been BOC certified since 2017, is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Michigan, and has been a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) since 2014.
She is engaged to her fiancé, Anthony Randall.
