Hallie McCarn is in her first year as an Associate Athletic Trainer at Eastern Michigan University, joining the department in July 2025. She brings a diverse clinical background and a strong foundation in both research and hands-on athletic training, shaped by experiences across high school, collegiate, and international settings.

Originally from Lexington, N.C., McCarn graduated from Gray Stone Day School in 2015. She earned her Bachelor's in Athletic Training from Indiana University in 2020, where she also minored in Exercise Science and Coaching. She continued her education with a Master's in Athletic Training from Missouri State University in 2023 and completed her Doctorate in Athletic Training at Indiana State University in 2025.

During her time at Indiana State, McCarn served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer from 2023-25, working primarily with the women’s swimming and diving team, which captured the Missouri Valley Conference championship in 2025. She also contributed to football athletic training support during summer camps. While at ISU, she completed a quality improvement project evaluating staff workload and clinic volume, with findings that were used to support a staffing proposal for the athletic training department. Additionally, she served as a preceptor for professional athletic training programs at both Indiana State and Missouri State University.

McCarn has been actively involved in research throughout her career. She presented original research at the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA) Annual Meeting in 2025 and previously worked as a research assistant for the NCAA and Department of Defense’s Concussion Assessment, Research, and Education (CARE) Consortium at Indiana University in 2018. In 2019, she participated in a study abroad program in Taiwan through the University of Georgia, further expanding her global perspective on athletic training practices.

Prior to her time at Indiana State, McCarn worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southwest Baptist University from 2021-23, covering volleyball, beach volleyball, and track and field. She also served as an outreach athletic trainer with ATI Physical Therapy at Broadneck High School in Maryland from 2020-21.

McCarn holds several professional certifications, including Master Dry Needling (Level 1) and RockTape FMT Basic and Advanced. She has been Board of Certification (BOC) certified since 2020 and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) since 2016.
