Evan Greening enters his second season as a graduate manager for the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball program in 2020-21.

Greening arrives in Ypsilanti after a two-year stint as the head boys’ basketball coach at Brentsville District High School. There, he was the youngest head coach in the state of Virginia when hired in 2018. He mentored the Tigers to its first regional playoff appearance in 10 years and guided four players to all-district and all-Northern VA Hoops post-season selections. Under Greening’s guidance, two seniors were selected to play in the post-season invitational all-star games for the first time in school history.

Prior to joining Brentsville, Greening spent one season as the assistant boys’ basketball coach at Woodbridge Senior High School. He also coached at Marymount University (2017) and Stafford Senior High School (2016-17) as an assistant coach.

The Fredericksburg, Va. native was a stand-out basketball student-athlete at Penn State University-Altoona and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Greening was a four-year starter, two-year captain, and was a four-time All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference selection. During his final campaign, Greening notched All-American honor from HERO Sports and DIII News, and received an All-Great Lakes Region nod from D3Hoops.com. The former forward finished his career with 1,885 points and 1,115 rebounds.

In 2017, the former forward was named to the Allstate/NABC Good Works Team which recognizes only 10 student-athletes each year for their community service and humanitarian effort. In addition, Greening was also one of 10 finalists for the prestigious Jostens Trophy which is given to the most outstanding Division III basketball player on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.

Greening graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pittsburgh-Bradford in 2017 with degrees in History and Social Studies Education. He also received his master’s in education-special education from Liberty University in 2018.
