Mary Spilski is in her 10th year in 2023-24 as the Head Cheer Coach/Spirit Coordinator for the Eastern Michigan University athletic department. She spent the first few years getting the team ready for the competition mat. Since starting to compete at NCA College Nationals in 2018, the team has earned the following trophies:
2018- 5th Place
2019- 4th Place
2021- 1st Place
2022- 2nd Place
2023- 8th Place
Back home in Ypsilanti, the team works hard supporting athletics in and out of the games! Coach Spilski also worked for the NAIA fine-tuning and creating the sport of Competitive Cheer. She has been a judge, sports resource liaison, and national assigner.
Spilski comes to Ypsilanti after serving as Interim Head Coach for the University of Wyoming Cowboys/Cowgirls of the Mountain West Conference. Prior to her stint as Interim Head Coach she was the Assistant Coach for the cheer and dance programs at Wyoming. She has more than 20 years of experience as a cheer coach at each the high school, community college and University levels.
Her duties above cheer coach include working with the the EMU Dance Team and Band to provide the best possible game day atmosphere.
Mary has been married to her husband Shad for 21 years and is the proud fur mom to 5 dogs!
