EMU Football Tailgating is a fun and exciting game day tradition. Fans are encouraged to come out early and participate in this unique game day experience. Please reference the policy below for official rules and regulations.
Parking is free for EMU Students in lot #5. All other labeled lots, with the exception of the VIP Lot, are general lots open to all faculty, staff and fans. Each vehicle will be subject to a $5 cash only parking charge within the timeframe of parking lots opening
Eastern Michigan University reserves the right to remove tailgaters from the approved areas who are not following the Tailgate Policy.
Tailgating is authorized only in designated locations near the EMU Convocation Center, Rynearson Stadium and athletic facilities. Please visit EMUEagles.com/Tailgate for map and details.
- Tailgating may begin three (3) hours prior to scheduled kick-off of EMU Home Football Games. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on-site before this time period. All tailgating activities must end 15 minutes prior to scheduled kick-off.
- Underage drinking is illegal, even while tailgating. All tailgate attendees are subject to ID checks.
- Drinking games including, but not limited to, beer pong, and the use of devices intended to accelerate the consumption of alcohol are prohibited.
- Containers designed for mass distribution of alcohol, such as kegs, party balls or other common source alcohol containers are prohibited. Glass beverage containers are prohibited. Shots and jello-shots are prohibited.
- Vehicles which take up more than two spaces are permitted with the purchase of a game day parking pass of $20.
- Prior approval must be given in writing for oversized vehicles, such as busses and U-Hauls to be present in designated tailgate areas. Please contact EMU Athletics at 734.487.1050 for approval.
- Grills are permitted provided guests do so only in the same space occupied by their vehicle. Oversized grills/grills pulled on trailers are permitted with prior approval. Please contact EMU Athletics at 734.487.1050 for approval. Open fires are prohibited.
- No animals are permitted in tailgate areas, except for service animals.
- Trash receptacles will be provided. Please help keep the tailgate area clean.
- Tents must not exceed 10' x 10' unless approval is given by EMU Athletics. Please call EMU Athletics at 734-487-1050 for more information. Tents must be placed directly behind vehicles and not impede the flow of pedestrians or vehicles.
- Groups interested in reserving an area on the front lawn of Rynearson Stadium for tailgating purposes should contact EMU Athletics at 734.487.1050.
- Respect your neighbors! Keeping your fun (and noise) contained in your tailgate area will go a long way to help your fellow tailgaters enjoy their experience.
- External sound systems and other electronics are permitted.
- Unruly and disruptive behavior is not permitted and is grounds for removal from tailgate area.
- EMU is a tobacco-free campus. Tobacco use is prohibited in all tailgate areas. For more information please see EMU Tobacco Free.
- Violation of any of the above may result in removal, suspension and/or termination of tailgating privileges. Those in violation may be referred to the appropriate authority.
