In the 1930’s Ford Lake was created to generate hydroelectric power for the manufacturing plants.

A boathouse is proposed to be built at Lakeside Park, just east of Textile Road, it will have three bays and measure 5,500 gross square feet. Not only would the structure serve as a permanent home for area rowing teams, but a key part of the grant funding is providing additional community usage such as adaptive rowing where people with disabilities are taught the sport, community accessibility, pathways and an outdoor classroom.

Additionally, a boat launch, fishing areas, beach area, four pavilions available to rent, basketball court, tennis courts, ball diamond and soccer field, play equipment, wooded areas, wetlands, and multiple picnic areas. This park is staffed and gated during the park season.
