Kian Wiles Named MAC Runner of the Week

Wiles opened the 2026 season with his first collegiate cross country win and personal best 5K
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University cross country student-athlete Kian Wiles was named Mid-American Conference (MAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) won the men's 5K outright at the Jeff Drenth Memorial, hosted by Central Michigan University at Shepherd High School Friday, Sept. 4, running a personal best time of 14:56.2.
The victory was Wiles' first of his collegiate cross country career, after earning Second Team All-MAC in the 2025 season, finishing eighth at the MAC Cross Country Championships.
Wiles also competes in distance events for the track and field program, where he has earned five individual MAC championships, most recently taking the title in the 1500m at the 2026 MAC Outdoor Championships, May 14-16, with a time of 3:48.30.
The last time a member of the men's program earned the award was in the 2024 season, when Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix) placed third at the Jeff Drenth Memorial, Aug. 30, and was named Men's Runner of the Week Sept. 3.
