Eastern recorded clean sheets at No. 3 Michigan State, Robert Morris

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Ella Holland was named Mid-American Conference Goalkeeper of the Week while Reese Carpenter was named MAC Defensive Player of the Week for the Eastern Michigan University soccer team as the MAC revealed its weekly winners Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Eastern produced a clean sheet at No. 3 Michigan State, Aug. 27, which marks the first known clean sheet by a mid-major on the road at a top-3 team since Sept. 18, 2016, when Georgetown blanked No. 2 West Virginia. The Eagles' shutout of the Spartans represents just the fourth clean sheet by a MAC team in East Lansing in 50 matches and first since 2005.

EMU fended off 22 shots and 15 corner kicks by MSU, Aug. 27, and also blanked Robert Morris, Aug. 30, limiting RMU to two shots and one corner.

Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) made seven saves against MSU and earned the honor for the third time in her career.

Carpenter (Terrace Park, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame/Creighton) earned a Player of the Week honor for the first time in her career.

With both clean sheets this week, Eastern has shutouts in back-to-back matches for the first time since Sept. 18, 2025, against Buffalo and Sept. 21, 2025, at Toledo. EMU has conceded two goals in the first four matches for the fifth time in program history and second time in three seasons.
