Eastern Michigan Earns MAC's Institutional Sportsmanship Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University has been named the recipient of the Mid-American Conference's Institutional Sportsmanship Award, marking the first time in program history the Eagles have received the honor as voted on by MAC membership.
The Institutional Sportsmanship Award grew out of the Conference's strategic plan, with sportsmanship serving as a core value in the MAC's mission statement. Each MAC institution received votes in the selection process, reinforcing the Conference's emphasis on sportsmanship across student-athletes, coaches, and administrators at every campus.
"Being recognized by our peers across the Mid-American Conference means a great deal to our department and our university community," said EMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee. "This honor reflects the way our student-athletes, coaches, and staff compete, represent Eastern Michigan, and carry themselves every day. We take pride in competing with integrity, respect, and class, and this award speaks to those values."
The Institutional Sportsmanship Award has been presented annually by the MAC since 2011, with no award given in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Previous recipients include Ohio University, the University at Buffalo, Bowling Green State University, Central Michigan University, Ball State University, and Miami University.
Eastern Michigan University's recognition underscores the department's commitment to competitive excellence, integrity, and respect both on and off the field.
